Marfa High School graduation is at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Martin Field. In keeping with our safety protocol, each senior is allowed 10 guests at the ceremony.

Our partner at Workforce Solutions Borderplex is hosting an evening workshop series called Grind Talk with upcoming virtual workshops on specific high-demand industries in the Borderplex region. Each interactive workshop will give students insight into what a career in that field might involve. There will also be the opportunity for students to interact with employers from that industry, ask questions, and win prizes. The next workshop will be tonight, April 15th from 6-7pm and will cover marketing and communications jobs. The final workshop will be on May 13th and will talk about information technology careers. The Union Ironworkers representatives, in cooperation with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, came to talk to Mr. Martinez's welding students today about their apprenticeship and training program. The Workforce Solutions Borderplex representative also talked to the students about summer job opportunities in Marfa. Thank you for some great information!

Attention Senior Parents This is a reminder for seniors that the Local Scholarship Application was due to Mrs. Porter on March 19th. If any seniors intend to apply for local scholarships that utilize this particular application, you can turn in a late application to Mrs. Porter by Monday, April 12th at noon. Seniors can check their school email dated March 15th. If you have any questions, please call the counselor, Mrs. Porter, at 432-729-5500.

Just a reminder to parents/guardians whose students are in a STAAR testable grade levels/subject and remote learning, you must notify the school by Monday, April 12th if your student will, or will not, be on campus to test. A letter has been mailed home with the upcoming test dates. If you have any questions, please call the counselor, Luane Porter, at 432-729-5500.

Thank you Marfa Education Foundation for supporting the students and staff at Marfa ISD. This year they have contributed almost $50,000 through teacher grants, technology grants, and funding for other programs. In March they treated the staff to donuts and coffee and this month have provided gift certificates to Wienertown. Most Marfa ISD students will be taking online assessments, therefore we will NOT have any paper test administrations during the week of April 5th. Specifically, no students will be taking grade 4 and 7 writing, English I, or English II this week. Please check your mail this week for a complete listing of state assessment dates.

John Aguero Receives DAR Good Citizens Award John Cameron Aguero has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen from the graduating class of 2021 of Marfa High School. His parents are Oscar and Cheri Aguero of Marfa. The award was presented to Mr. Aguero on March 3 by Allison Scott, Principal of Marfa High School, on behalf of the Paisano Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. DAR Good Citizens are selected by their school based on qualities of good character including dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The local Paisano Chapter, NSDAR works with area schools to recognize one Good Citizen from each high school senior class. Mr. Aguero received a certificate, a pin and a stipend toward his college education. He has been accepted into Texas Tech University to study mechanical engineering this fall.
