Our partner at Workforce Solutions Borderplex is hosting an evening workshop series called Grind Talk with upcoming virtual workshops on specific high-demand industries in the Borderplex region. Each interactive workshop will give students insight into what a career in that field might involve. There will also be the opportunity for students to interact with employers from that industry, ask questions, and win prizes. The next workshop will be tonight, April 15th from 6-7pm and will cover marketing and communications jobs. The final workshop will be on May 13th and will talk about information technology careers. Thank you Marfa Education Foundation for supporting the students and staff at Marfa ISD. This year they have contributed almost $50,000 through teacher grants, technology grants, and funding for other programs. John Aguero Receives DAR Good Citizens Award John Cameron Aguero has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen from the graduating class of 2021 of Marfa High School. His parents are Oscar and Cheri Aguero of Marfa. The award was presented to Mr. Aguero on March 3 by Allison Scott, Principal of Marfa High School, on behalf of the Paisano Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. DAR Good Citizens are selected by their school based on qualities of good character including dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The local Paisano Chapter, NSDAR works with area schools to recognize one Good Citizen from each high school senior class. Mr. Aguero received a certificate, a pin and a stipend toward his college education. He has been accepted into Texas Tech University to study mechanical engineering this fall.
