UPDATED NOVEMBER 11, 2020 November 11, 2020 Dear Parent/Guardian, In keeping with Marfa ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all students’ families that two employees and a student of Marfa ISD who have been confirmed to have COVID-19 were present on the Marfa Junior/Senior High School and Marfa Elementary campuses November 9 and 10, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individuals or details that may identify them. All facilities will be thoroughly disinfected according to our safety response protocol. In addition, the local health department will conduct contact tracing investigations and notify those who have potentially been exposed. Marfa ISD school buildings will be closed until November 16, 2020. Remote instruction will continue for all students from Nov. 11 through Nov. 13, 2020. Students need to continue to check email and Google Classroom and complete daily assignments. Students will return to campus on November 16, 2020. While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19. Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection: Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth; Sore throat; New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline); Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever. If you or any member of the Marfa ISD community do begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your local health provider. We encourage anyone in the Marfa ISD community who is lab-confirmed positive for COVID-19 to please notify the school by calling 432-729-5500. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff are our highest priority. We will keep you updated with any new information through the school website, social media, and phone messages. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 432-729-5500 or visit our website at www.marfisd.com Sincerely, Oscar N. Aguero Superintendent

Remote students may have access to email and Google Classroom, and, if so, should complete required assignments. We will announce when service is restored.
