Marfa ISD has confirmed with the Department of Health and Human Services that the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered Friday, June 4, 2021 in the Marfa Shorthorn Gym at 1:00 pm.
Reminder: 8th grade promotion is at 11 a.m., Friday, May 28 at the Marfa Shorthorn Gym. End of Year Awards Programs are Thursday, May 27 at 2 p.m. for junior high students and 3 p.m. for high school students at the high school auditorium. Space is limited to two guests per student family. Masks are required for indoor events.
All seniors and their families are invited to the annual Baccalaureate Service at 7:30 p.m. this evening at Marfa Shorthorn Gym. This is another tradition for MHS seniors, and hope to see you there.
Students in Grades 9, 10 and 11 who are exempt from all final exams are required to check in at the office at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and then may leave the campus. Students who are not exempt from a class must attend the class on campus. Remote students are required to check in online.
For the final two weeks of school, remote students are not allowed to return to campus except to return school material such as computers and textbooks on the last day of school, Friday, May 28. Students who are face-to-face must continue attending classes on campus until school ends. Students are not allowed to move back and forth from remote to face-to-face learning.

Hey high school students!
Our partner at Workforce Solutions Borderplex is hosting an evening workshop series called Grind Talk with upcoming virtual workshops on specific high-demand industries in the Borderplex region.
Each interactive workshop will give students insight into what a career in that field might involve. There will also be the opportunity for students to interact with employers from that industry, ask questions, and win prizes.
The final workshop will be tonight May 13th from 6-7pm and will talk about information technology careers.

As part of Marfa ISD’s overall health education curriculum, Dr. Katie Ray and Dr. Adrian Billings from Preventative Care Health Services will present sexual awareness education information to Grade 8-Grade 12 students. Dr. Ray will present to the girls on Wednesday, May 12th and Dr. Billings will present to the boys on Thursday, May 13th.
Marfa ISD acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary sexuality educators for their child/children, and we are committed to partnering with you to provide supplementary resources to support you in this role. You have the option of excluding your child from this presentation if it is in conflict with conscience, moral, or religious beliefs. If this is the case with your child, please fill out the exclusion form being sent home with students today and tomorrow and return to school Wednesday. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Want to help a youth but not sure how?
PermiaCare will be hosting Mental Health First Aid trainings in May at no cost.
We would love for the community to join us in learning how to understand an individual who may be developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis, learn how to approach them, and who to connect for appropriate professional help.
Youth Mental Health First Aid- This training is great for adults who help or work with adolescent, ages 6-18, family members or friends.
