Thank you, Liz Rogers, Attorney at Law, for talking to our seniors about their rights and responsibilities when turning 18! It was great information covering a variety of topics such as laws, voting, jury duty, employment, drugs and alcohol.
Correction on the vaccine date. The correct date is Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Marfa Shorthorn Gym.
The Department of State Health Services will administer the second Pfizer Vaccine at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, at the Marfa Shorthorn Gym. Children 12- to 15-years old must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. There is no charge for the vaccine.
With the increase in COVID cases and other common viruses, we are asking that parents/guardians please keep their child home if she/he has a fever, cough, or sore throat. This will be an excused absence with a note from the parent or a medical provider explaining the illness. District nurse Beverly Dutchover has COVID tests available for students. Please contact her at 432-729-5500 to schedule a test if needed.
Shorthorn Homecoming is tonight at Martin Field! Pre-game show begins at 5:45 p.m. The MHS Homecoming court will be presented and the Queen, King, Prince, and Princess will be announced. Kickoff is 6:05 p.m. when the Shorthorns take on Holy Cross Catholic School. The Athletic Booster Club will have the concession stand open selling popcorn, hot dogs, nachos and more! Go Shorthorns!
School begins tomorrow, Monday, August 16.
Student drop off begins at 7:40 am
Drop off for elementary will be on the west side of the building. Doors will open for students to enter the building at 7:45 a.m. Pick up will begin at 3:45 pm.
Junior High drop off is at the football field entrance and High School drop off is at the front of the high school.
All junior high and high school students will meet in the auditorium at 8 am for a general assembly.
Students are encouraged to bring bottled water.
Seniors Paint the Street at 7:30 pm tonight, Friday, August 13! Bring your paint and make your mark on the street! Congratulations Class of 2022! Go Horns!
Senior Paint the Street is canceled today due to weather. We will reschedule. We will post a new date for painting tomorrow
Senior Picture Day is tomorrow, Wednesday, August 11, at Marfa Shorthorn Gym. Seniors, please check your school email for appointment times. The appointment schedule will also be posted at MSG.
Online Registration assistance will be available at Meet the Teachers from 4:30-6 p.m., Thursday, August 12 at both campuses.
This year, parents must register online through the school's Parent Portal. Paper forms are no longer available.

Attention SRSU students
If you are a graduate of a high school in Brewster, Jeff Davis, or Presidio Counties with 24 semester credit hours and a GPA of 3.0 or higher, please consider applying for the Bechtel Book Grant.

The deadline to apply is noon on August 20, 2021.
